We’ve mentioned the weekly Delray Beach GreenMarket before—namely the fact that the market was open during the summer, something that the City of Delray Beach hoped would encourage year-round residents to mingle and enjoy the downtown area. But now that season is getting started, the real, true GreenMarket is back and it's bigger than ever. One of our favorite things to do on the weekends at Mizner Residential Realty has always been to check out this weekly local event, and now there are more reasons than ever for you to look into it, too. The Delray Beach GreenMarket opens on Saturday, October 26, 2019 for its 24th season. The GreenMarket is situated at Old School Square Park on NE 2nd Avenue right in the heart of the downtown area. The winter GreenMarket provides locals and visitors alike with reason to hang out, enjoy great music, and mingle with friends, vendors, and new acquaintances in the Village by the Sea. There are many attractions, not just for opening day, but throughout the market season.
Launched in 1996 by the Community Redevelopment Agency, the Delray Beach GreenMarket has become a popular part of "season" in Palm Beach County. More than 65 vendors will be participating in the 2019-2020 season, featuring farm-to-fork produce, just picked citrus, tropical fruit and juice, farm fresh eggs, raw milk and butter, artisan cheese and jams, fragrant baked goods, plenty of gluten-free, vegan and organic products, fresh cut flowers, plants and other unique gourmet fare along with live musical entertainment each Saturday from 9am to 2pm.
In addition to the great vendors, including Independent Seafood, Inika Foods, Jerry’s Here Farm Fresh, Doctor Pickle, Eddie’s Organic Dark Chocolate, Empanada Lady, and many more—both new and returning, the Delray Beach Green Market will also feature live music, arts and crafts and other activities to spend the day. GreenMarket general manager Lori Nolan says, "Each year, it seems to get bigger and better. Our audience keeps growing, with more and more people looking to support our local farmers and vendors.”
The GreenMarket will be open every Saturday throughout the season and wrapping up on Saturday, May 16, 2020. If you’re a Delray Resident or simply interested in checking out the downtown area, there’s no better place to do it than at the weekly GreenMarket. Find more information about this year’s market and learn more about the market in general at the GreenMarket's site. Two notable exceptions this year include the GreenMarket being held in the parking lot of City Hall, located at 100 NW 1st Ave on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Also, the GreenMarket will not be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 due to the Annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade.
