Lake Worth is a town in southern Florida comprised of more than two dozen neighborhoods, with the price points varying greatly. The city isn’t that large, and there is a laid back feel in the downtown area off Lucerne and Lake Avenue. Lake worth is a coastal city that is quite popular in Florida, with views and access to the Atlantic Ocean over the Lake Avenue bridge and condos built along the coast that simply exude luxuriousness. Lake Worth was recently renamed Lake Worth Beach is one of the nicest coastal cities in southern Florida and is a truly one of a kind city. The area is quite old and has a great deal of history to it, and since it is on the coast, there are some amazing views and some great things to do, from walking barefoot on the beach to boating and sailing. The area attracts both locals from the area who want to live on the coast as well as visitors that are on vacation or visiting family in the area.
The city is named for the lake (intracoastal waterway) that boarders its eastern edge - named after U.S. Army General William Worth. The city is part of Palm Beach County with West Palm Beach to the north, Boynton and Delray Beaches to the south. It is the birthplace of American author James Patterson, and is known for its rich history and diverse culture. Lake worth has a beautiful beach with a casino (no gambling here) featuring shops, restaurants, parks and a pier stretching 960 feet over the Atlantic Ocean. The downtown area features two main avenues - Lake and Lucerne. Shops, restaurants, art galleries and the historic Lake Worth Playhouse line the main thoroughfare. Every year visitors come from all over to see the largest Street Painting Festival in the country.
